Sara Kurtz Allaei’s international education experience spans more than 35 years, beginning with a three-year volunteer community-based adult English teaching role in Beni Suef, Egypt. She has worked at IUPUI since 1987, first in the Department of English as the first full-time lecturer in its English for Academic Purposes Program. Since transitioning to the IUPUI Office of International Affairs in 1991 as assistant director for services, Allaei has held a variety of positions, all focused on services to IUPUI’s international community, advancing campus capacity for international enrollment, and contributing more broadly to IUPUI’s international engagement.
Allaei holds a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Secondary Education from Salisbury University. She has served in numerous leadership roles with NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
