GLoBal TAlks is an informal group with the purpose of addressing the needs of international students to have open and honest discussions about LGBT issues in a supportive and nonjudgmental manner. These discussions are specially beneficial to students coming from countries where LGBT issues are taboo.
In a typical meeting we have a "host" who will lead the discussion and often, though not always, the discussion centers around what it was like to grow up in a particular country as a member of a sexual diversity. In the past, we have had hosts from Mexico, Ecuador, Taiwan, India, and the US. The group is also open to domestic students and members of the University community who share interest in LGBT issues relevant to international students.
We plan on meeting every other Wednesday at 6PM. Out next meeting is
Wednesday, October 18
Willkie C#110 (150 North Rose Ave)
Other dates include: November 1, 15, and 29.
Please come join us for conversation and refreshments!
