GSConnect gives graduate students, scholars, and their families a place to gather each month. Those who attend will be able to meet new people and foster relationships with others in the international community at IU.
At these gatherings, guests can look forward to refreshments provided by OIS, interactive crafts and activities, or an outing in the Bloomington community. As the seasons change, so will the meet-ups! In the Fall, activities might include pumpkin carving and cookie decorating with hot cocoa or cider as it gets colder. In the warmer months, you can look forward to outdoor picnics or barbeques.
If you’re a graduate student or scholar looking to get involved and network, then we hope you join us!
October 28, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Lawn outside the School of Global and International Studies Building
We welcome grads, scholars, and family members to celebrate Fall by carving pumpkins! Carving pumpkins is a popular American tradition that usually takes place around Halloween. OIS will provide a number of pumpkins, carving tools, and stencils. Supplies are limited, so RSVP when we send the email invite and arrive on time. Carving will take place on the lawn outside the School of Global and International Studies Building. Our refreshments will feature other seasonal favorites—donuts and warm apple cider!
International Board Games
November 11, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Campus View Apartments Activity Room
Explore other cultures through games! We’ll be playing international board games in the Campus View Apartments Activity Room. Given that pies are common in many American households during Thanksgiving, we’d like to give you a little taste. You can sample a few different pies and figure out which one is your favorite.
