Apply for the Eoyang-Lee Fellowship

The Eoyang-Lee Scholarship is offered to undergraduate and graduate international students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington who are interested in studying humanities and who demonstrate financial need.

The fund may grant one or more scholarships per year, which may include cash or a fee remission. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.


To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree or diploma program
  • Have an interest in the study of humanities
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate the ability to work hard and overcome obstacles
  • Demonstrate a strong potential to succeed in your field of study and future career
  • Be nearing degree completion

How to apply

  1. Complete a scholarship application form through Atlas, and select the Eoyang application.
  2. Submit a one- to two-page personal statement to our office via email or fax. It should focus on the following topics:
    • Immediate family history
    • Reason for seeking a degree in the United States
    • Hardships encountered, including financial difficulties
    • Proudest achievement to date
    • Career plans upon degree completion
    • Thoughts on your potential contributions to society
  3. Provide two academic or professional written references.

Application timing

We accept applications in the spring semester each year. We send an email, typically in February or March, to all international students with application deadlines.
