Visitors to IU as part of an institutional agreement
The IU Office of International Partnerships actively engages in developing partnerships with higher education institutions and organizations around the world.
As part of these agreements, sometimes visitors from partner institutions come to IU to give lectures, consult with faculty partners, further academic collaboration, or attend workshops or conferences.
Where there is a specific agreement in place between institutions for the specific purpose of educational or cultural exchange, we will most often recommend the J-1 visa. However, in some cases the activity may be consistent with the B1/B2 visitor visa or the Visa Waiver Program.Learn more about international partnerships
