Many of the international faculty members, researchers, and scholars who come to Indiana University are J-1 exchange visitors. Depending on your J-1 category, you may come here to work on a special project for a few days, or teach or conduct research for as long as five years.
All J scholars and dependent family members must have health insurance for the duration of their program. Insurance can be purchased before arrival in the United States from your home country, or you can purchase insurance from our office upon arrival in the United States. Costs vary depending on many factors. Learn about minimum coverage levels, the IU health insurance plan, and more.
The Office of International Services is a resource for you throughout your J-1 program. Whether you are applying for a visa or you are already on campus, you can ask us any questions you have. We will do our best to help you. Contact us.
