Learn about the "la Caixa" Fellowship Program

We're excited to have you as part of the "la Caixa" Foundation Fellowship Program!

Each year, the "la Caixa" Foundation provides grants to excellent Spanish and Portuguese students for a one- or two-year postgraduate program in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. IU has administered the program in the United States and Canada since 1985.

Graduating or renewing?

If you're completing your program or wanting to continue through the summer and/or next year, complete the renewal form. You'll also need a reference.

IU Direct Deposit Authorization Form. Mail the completed form to:

IU Travel Reimbursement Direct Deposit. This is a separate form that you only need to complete if you receive a travel reimbursement from IU. To complete this form, you will need an IU computing account.
Health Insurance for Spouses. "la Caixa" does not provide funding for your spouse to enroll in the required health insurance. You need to pay for this insurance yourself. We advise you check for options for spousal health insurance through the international student services office of the U.S. university in which you will enroll. If there are not good options through your home university, you may purchase health insurance for your spouse through the vendor IU uses for foreign scholars.
FERPA Release and Emergency Contact Form. Complete this form to allow us to provide information to the "la Caixa" Fellowship Program.
Tax Implications of Foreign-Sourced Fellowships. This letter verifies that we do not report fellowship stipend amounts to the U.S. government for tax purposes.
