Renewal

Participating in summer activities

You can apply to continue the fellowship program to cover summer activities like coursework or internships/employment (or both).

  • Coursework: You can continue receiving your monthly stipend during the summer if you are enrolled in a degree program and taking courses towards your degree.
    • If the courses are not at your host institution, you'll need to make sure your host institution recognizes the credits and make arrangements to pay the sponsor institution's tuition. la Caixa will only make tuition payments to your host university.
    • Fellows in music and film studies can be exempt from the rule of taking credit courses to receive the stipend. Contact us to discuss your options.
    • If you are planning to stay at your university during the summer to conduct research, your academic advisor will need to provide a letter of support. This letter should include the start and end dates of your summer research.
  • Internships/employment: You can pursue an internship or employment to help further your degree or research objectives. If the position is paid, we'll adjust your monthly stipend amount accordingly. You'll also need to submit an offer of employment letter that meets the following requirements:
    • Is on official company letterhead
    • Includes the start and end date of employment/internship
    • Indicates whether the work will be paid or unpaid, including the amount if paid

Next academic year

You need to indicate your anticipated enrollment plans for next academic year. They do not need to be final at this stage.
