This session will outline common resources for professionalization and career development. We'll talk about diverse career options available through an advanced degree (beyond traditional tenure-track positions) as well as effective strategies for expanding skillsets, supports, and community during grad school.

Eskenazi Museum of Art & Lilly Library
Visit one of the largest university art museums in America, designed by acclaimed architect I.M. Pei. A guided tour will highlight works of art from the museum's collection of 45,000 objects. The Lilly Library will also be open for a self-guided exploration of rare books, manuscripts, and mechanical puzzles.

Option to use IU sport facilities for fellows who are interested. The indoor and outdoor facilities include soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts, table tennis, squash, and racquetball courts.

Lecture: U.S. Politics & People
Global and International Studies Building - Auditorium (GA0001)
Presented by Marjorie Hershy, Professor, Department of Political Science.
This presentation will emphasize the main differences between the foundations of American politics and those of most other democratic systems. We will cover characteristics of the American political system that tend to puzzle visitors from outside the U.S.: separation of powers and federalism, the persistence of a two-party system, and the importance placed on individual freedom. The current U.S. political circumstances will also be examined as it relates to the unusual qualities of American politics and culture.
