Apply for the Scott and Kathryn Schurz Latin American Scholarship

The Scott and Kathryn Schurz Latin American Scholarship is offered to students from Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean who are majoring in journalism at Indiana University Bloomington.

This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen and is renewable for four years.

Eligibility

Incoming students must apply to IU Bloomington by November 1, selecting journalism as their intended major.

Once admitted, top students will be invited to complete IU’s Selective Scholarship Application. In previous years, students invited to complete the SSA have had SAT scores upward of 1310 and ACT scores of at least 28, and GPAs of 3.7 or higher or a top 15 percent ranking in their class. Once you complete your SSA, you will be considered for the Schurz Scholarship.

Your admissions application will be automatically reviewed to determine if you are eligible for the Scott and Kathryn Schurz Latin American Scholarship. You will be notified of any scholarship awards at your official IU email address.
