Frequently Asked Questions
What are we telling students about One.IU and what do they see when they log in?
Graduate applicants can now check their application status online through One.IU. We are referring graduate applicants to One.IU for status checks at this time when we receive their application. We do recommend that graduate applicants create an account in One.IU during the application stage so they can check their status and make updates to their applications. We will refer applicants to One.IU to update their addresses.

How do I use the Country Profiles to help our department make an admission decision?
You can find the answers to many questions about the Country Profiles—including our recommendations on how they should be used in our Guide to Using Country Profiles.
How do I request an evaluation of an applicant’s credentials?
- Open Atlas and click on “Administrative Services for University Departments.”
- On the left-hand side of the screen, click on “Admission.”
- Click on “Graduate Department Request for Evaluation.” This will open a form that must be submitted online. If the transcripts that need to be reviewed have already been uploaded to Atlas by our office, there is no need to attach academic records.
- Once our office has received your request for evaluation, we will fill out the information you have requested and submit it online. You will be notified via email once this has been completed and will be able to view the form. If you are unable to view the completed form, please email intlgrad@iu.edu.
What are the total expenses that international students need to show before they can obtain an I-20 or DS-2019 (formerly known as the IAP-66)?
Each year, the Office of International Services calculates the estimated expenses for study at Indiana University Bloomington. These expenses include tuition for two semesters as well as 12 months of living expenses. These estimates are then reported on the I-20 or DS-2019, and students must show that they have these funds currently available (either personally or through departmental funding) before we can issue the I-20 or DS-2019.

Do students need to fill out a form to attach to their financial documentation?
Yes, they should. It is very helpful and will expedite the process if they download this form and send it, along with their funding documentation, to our office.
How long does it usually take to admit an international graduate application and issue visa documentation?
Depending upon the time of year, it may take as long as 3-4 weeks to issue visa documentation and admit packets. In general, we will issue visa documentation and admit packets within 5-7 working days after sufficient financial documentation and appropriate departmental approval is received.
